About us
Providing for the physical and emotional needs in order to develop relationships that will be receptive to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In so doing, we also provide management and guidance between the people and/or organizations who have the resources and the people who have the needs. CIAI searches for unchurched areas and comes along side local ministries wanting to reach the needy but are not financially able and connect them with ministries which are able to help. In the process of coordinating projects and programs, we are actively involved in ministering and developing relationships between the communities receiving the benefits and with the mission teams providing the assistance.
History
Compassion In Action was founded in 2006 by Rev. David Reyes of Miami and Rev. Randall Black of Virginia. As a team, they were both called to their first mission trip in 2004 to the island of Cuba. During several trips to Cuba and throughout the years, the team grew to include Rev. Pat Williams and Sam Boyers. The vision continued to expand for the team and the Lord opened doors in other countries. In 2010 Compassion In Action was invited to minister in the Dominican Republic, close to the border of Haiti, and the Lord opened the door for an opportunity to assist a local pastor in his vision to build a church in an impoverished area. At this point, Compassion In Action took on another facet of its ministry by facilitating the building of the church with the help of a ministry in Virginia. Several churches have since been built in the Dominican Republic, some with medical and dental facilities. The Lord also opened doors in 2014 to visit and assist local pastors in the restoration of two churches in the remote jungle of Panama and in 2015 a church was also built on the indigenous islands of Kuna Yala of Panama with the assistance of an indigenous pastor. The Lord also opened doors to bring aide and medical assistance to areas of Ecuador, during the 2016 earthquake which shook Ecuador to the core and to the Florida Keys in 2018 after Hurricane Irma.
Compassion In Action currently continues to minister in the Dominican Republic and facilitating the connection between local ministries and ministries abroad in an effort to assist in the physical and spiritual needs of those who have need in one or both of these areas.
